In a recent developer video released by Square Enix, the team behind Final Fantasy VII Rebirth provided a deep dive into the game's development, while also offering a glimpse into the plans for the final chapter of the Remake Trilogy.
The 90-minute video features director Naoki Hamaguchi, co-director Motomu Toriyama, art director Shintaro Takai, and battle director Teruki Endo, who discuss a range of topics related to Rebirth. Notably, the team expressed a desire to "give the player even more freedom" and provide "a different kind of experience" in the third and final installment of the trilogy.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi further reinforced the team's ambitions, stating that they want to "give fans a different kind of experience to what they had in Remake and Rebirth." With the expanded open-world sections and refined battle system introduced in Rebirth, the developers seem eager to push the boundaries even further in the trilogy's conclusion.
Hamaguchi also expressed his commitment to finishing the third game as soon as possible, noting that the development team had not been split apart, which could potentially enable a quicker turnaround than the previous entries.
