This isn’t exactly “breaking news,” but it’s still the latest update we’ve received about the Final Fantasy IX anime that I think is worth sharing.
In a "recent" update from the November issue of Animation Magazine, Dominique Bourse, Chairman & CEO of Cyber Group Studios, mentioned the development of the Final Fantasy IX anime in collaboration with Square Enix. Bourse expressed the studio’s commitment to adapting well-known franchises and highlighted Final Fantasy IX as a project that aligns with their strategic vision.
"I think what our studio has done so incredibly well is to be flexible and super smart about the way in which they develop content and the kind of projects they choose. Final Fantasy IX, for example, is one of those IPs that ticks a lot of those boxes"
While Bourse does not explicitly mention how far the progress of the development of the anime is, it’s still good to hear the project is ongoing after it was pretty silent about it in recent months. The official announcement to the public is still missing, but we can expect more updates in the future.
