Ever Crisis - New Gameplay Details Based On Hands-on Experience

Square Enix's booth at Summer Game Fest featured the highly anticipated mobile game, Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. RPG Site had the opportunity to test the game, confirm certain details, and unveil new information.

First and foremost, the original Final Fantasy VII will be available in its entirety at launch, with no stamina system restricting gameplay. The developers have focused on ensuring the monetization elements do not interfere with the immersive storytelling. Players can expect additional costumes to customize the characters as they progress through the game.

The gameplay mechanics feature a simplified ATB system. The meter charges automatically, allowing players to select actions that require a specific number of charges. While the other party members act independently, players will have control over activating their Limit Breaks. By using multiple Limit Breaks simultaneously, players can enhance their damage output. Offensive and Defensive stances add depth to the combat experience, making it engaging for a mobile game. The visuals of Ever Crisis are stunning, bringing to life the original PlayStation-era graphics while respecting the game's iconic style. The overworld "chibi" models and the properly proportioned battle models strike a perfect balance.

RPG Site had the opportunity to test the game on various iPad generations, giving a glimpse of how it will perform on different devices. Although there is no official confirmation about Apple TV compatibility or gamepad support, Ever Crisis's gameplay doesn't require precise inputs, making it suitable for the format.

While there is still much to learn about Ever Crisis, it has potential to be an exceptional alternative remake of Final Fantasy VII.
