Exclusive Announcements from Final Fantasy Fan Fest: The Viper Job Takes the Spotlight

Square Enix has revealed exciting details about the upcoming expansion of Final Fantasy XIV, titled Dawntrail, at the Fan Fest event held in London. The highlight of the event was the introduction of a new Job, Viper, set to debut in the expansion.

Viper is a unique dual-wielding melee DPS Job, distinct from the existing Ninja class. Players wielding Viper will engage foes with swift slashes and unleash powerful blows using a combined weapon. Additionally, Viper has the ability to temporarily enhance its capabilities, drawing upon the ancient hunter's memories.

Director and producer Naoki Yoshida made a grand entrance in Viper cosplay to personally reveal this striking new addition.

In addition to Viper, a second Job, a ranged magic DPS class, is scheduled to be unveiled at the Tokyo Fan Fest in January 2024. Furthermore, a limited Job, separate from party play, will be introduced in the latter half of the 7.X series, promising fresh gameplay experiences.

Dawntrail will transport players to the far western land of Tural, showcasing stunning South American-inspired temples and lush jungles, all of which highlight the expansion's enhanced graphics. Players will also explore captivating new regions like Kozama'uka, a tropical paradise with breathtaking waterfalls, and Shaaloani, a Wild West-like desert area boasting a railroad and Ceruleum deposits.

The expansion will include a diverse array of dungeons, ranging from underground temples to snow-capped mountains adorned with mysterious crystal growths. Additionally, players can anticipate an advanced reactor-like dungeon, potentially linked to Ceruleum.

The expansion, Dawntrail, also promises a host of exciting content. Players can look forward to new Alliance Raids inspired by Final Fantasy XI, known as Echoes of Vana'diel. Moreover, lifestyle content akin to the popular Island Sanctuary will be introduced, with a focus on multiplayer engagement.

Fans can anticipate a crossover event with the widely-acclaimed Fall Guys game, set to launch on October 31st in the Gold Saucer. Additionally, a crossover with Final Fantasy XVI is in the works, featuring the protagonist Clive and an exclusive Torgal mount.

Lastly, a cloud data center stress test is scheduled for late November, followed by an open beta test for Xbox players from mid-January to February of the following year.

Dawntrail is poised for release in the summer of 2024, promising a wealth of new experiences for Final Fantasy XIV enthusiasts.
