FFXIV Live Letter LXXIX Unveils Updates for Patch 6.5 and a Release Date for Part 1


Here's a summary of the recent FFXIV Live Letter LXXIX, providing insights into the forthcoming Patch 6.5 in Final Fantasy 14. Aired during the Tokyo Game Show 2023, the live letter offered a glimpse into a host of exciting updates.


Kicking off with a new trailer featuring Zero and Ryne, the presentation unveiled a plethora of teasers. These included dungeons, trials, the highly anticipated Alliance Raid "Thaleia," and more. The trailer also teased the Main Scenario Quest, hinting at intriguing collaborations and confrontations.

Moving on to crucial details, FFXIV Producer Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) and Global Community Producer Toshio Murouchi (Morbol) shared the patch release dates. Part one, Patch 6.5, is set to arrive on October 3, 2023, followed by Part 2 (6.55) in mid-January 2024.

The letter then revisited updates from the previous Live Letter LXXVIII, covering new quests, adjustments, and the Fall Guys x FFXIV Collaboration. A detailed roadmap highlighted upcoming events, including fan festivals and subsequent patch releases.

Key adjustments were outlined to maintain balance among job roles, ensuring a seamless transition into the new level cap. A preview of The Abyssal Fracture showcased a challenging encounter with Zeromus, emphasizing crucial mechanics.


UI enhancements for Crystalline Conflict, along with the introduction of the dynamic Arena "The Red Sands" in Patch 6.51, promised an engaging experience for players. Additional previews included striking PvP rewards, ranging from intricate armor to futuristic streetwear.


Alliance Raid "Thaleia" was spotlighted, unveiling breathtaking visuals and promising an immersive experience. Fantasy-themed gear and intriguing housing items were also showcased, offering players an array of customization options.


A diverse range of mounts and minions was revealed, each with its unique charm. The developers assured improvements in server infrastructure, exploring cloud data centers to enhance player experience.


In an interesting collaboration, KFC joined hands with FFXIV, offering players in Japan an exclusive in-game emote and stickers with combo meals from October 4, 2023. The Final Fantasy XIV TTRPG starter set is slated for release in May 2024, with pre-orders now open.


The upcoming FFXIV 10th Anniversary Fireworks and Music in Kanto are now available for pre-order, with early orders receiving special discounts. Yoshi-P will host an FFXIV Patch 6.5 Patch Note reading on October 2, 2023.


Lastly, an Expanded Free Trial update promises an extended gaming experience, including Stormblood content, a level cap boost (60 to 70), and the introduction of new jobs: Samurai and Red Mage.
