Square Enix has announced that the 2005 CG film, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, is set to make a comeback in Japanese theaters. Running from January 19 to February 1, 2024, this limited-time screening will showcase the 2021 remaster in 4K resolution, providing fans with a visually stunning trip down memory lane. The 4K version of Advent Children is part of the Complete Edition, originally released in 2009, and features an additional 30 minutes of content.
For those fortunate enough to attend, Square Enix has prepared some exclusive goodies. In the first week, grab a B3-sized poster featuring the key art of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The second week offers a choice between postcards featuring either Cloud and Sephiroth.
Anticipation is growing as social media also hints at a U.S. release on February 21, strategically aligning with the upcoming launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on February 29. Creative director Tetsuya Nomura previously mentioned a connection between the remake trilogy and Advent Children, promising that elements from the film will seamlessly weave into the remake canon.
