During an interview with game director Naoki Hamaguchi at New York Comic Con, conducted by TechRaptor, it was hinted that aside from Zack Fair, characters from other Final Fantasy VII spinoffs might also make appearances in the game.
Hamaguchi shared insights into the development of Rebirth, emphasizing Zack Fair's expanded role compared to the original title. He explained that Zack's character will serve as a key figure, providing players with a deeper understanding of the Final Fantasy VII world within Rebirth. To prepare players for this enhanced experience, the release of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Reunion was scheduled.
Intriguingly, Hamaguchi disclosed, “Without again providing any major spoilers, besides Zack, who was not in the original Final Fantasy VII but will be making an appearance here, there’s going to be other characters from FFVII spinoffs that will be appearing in Rebirth as well.”
Fans can speculate about which beloved characters might join the roster, with possibilities including Cissnei, Angeal, Genesis, and others from the rich Final Fantasy VII universe.
