Square Enix has released Patch 1.001 for the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, introducing stability improvements and a fix for Steam Deck users. The update focuses on system optimizations but does not include major performance enhancements.

One of the primary fixes addresses an issue where the graphics preset on Steam Deck would default to ‘Low’ on the first launch, even when cloud save data was linked. With this patch, settings should now correctly apply when restarting the game.

For PC players using NVIDIA DLSS, the Anti-Aliasing Method will now be set to DLSS by default. This aims to improve visual quality and performance on compatible hardware. Additionally, the DirectStorage DLL has been updated to its latest version.

The update does not address shader compilation stutters or low-quality textures, and no significant performance optimizations were included.

Version 1.001 Release Notice:

  • Improved overall game stability, including several bug fixes.

  • Fixed the graphics preset to be set to 'Low' when launching for the first time on Steam Deck, even when save data is linked from the cloud. (The next time the game is launched on Steam Deck, the saved settings will be applied.)

  • When playing on a PC that supports NVIDIA DLSS, the default setting for 'Anti-Aliasing Method' is now set to 'DLSS'.

  • The DirectStorage DLL (Dynamic Link Library) has been updated to the latest version.
