Sony has announced a replacement program for the Japanese Final Fantasy VII Rebirth discs due to printing errors. The errors caused the contents of each disc to not correspond with their respective labels. This issue affects discs distributed in Japan and various East and Southeast Asian countries.
Here is how the replacement process works:
The deadline to submit the application form for the exchange is August 16, 2024.
The acceptance period for sending back the erroneous discs will run from July 12, 2024, to September 30, 2024.
Affected players should wrap the discs in a paper bag or similar packaging and send them to the Sony PlayStation Customer Support Disc Replacement Head address, detailed on the Japanese information website.
Sony will begin dispatching the corrected discs starting from August 26, 2024.
In case you missed it:
Before the release of the game, Square Enix confirmed that there was a manufacturing error at Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. This error affected the label printed on the disc and the content recorded on the disc for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, players can still enjoy FFVII Rebirth using these discs, as Square Enix has confirmed the game remains fully playable despite the mislabeling. To assist users, Square Enix has included clear instructions: Players should start by inserting the black disc labeled “Play Disc” to download the game files. After the download finishes, they should use the white disc labeled “Data Disc” to launch the game.
