Final Fantasy XIV Announces Updated Dawntrail Benchmark Release

Updated: Jun 2

Naoki Yoshida shared that the updated Dawntrail benchmark will be released on June 3, 2024. This follows a slight delay from the initial planned release date of May 31, 2024. The delay was necessary due to an instability issue found during final testing and a scheduled power outage affecting the development offices on June 1-2, 2024.

Based on extensive player feedback, several adjustments have been made. These include corrections to lighting and weather conditions, high-resolution textures, necklines, and mouth scaling for certain races.

One significant update in the benchmark is the ability to toggle off the blue lighting in the character creation background, which was previously a default setting. Users can now select the clock icon to adjust the lighting and time of day. Additionally, the limb darkening effect has been removed to improve the visual impression of characters.

Other enhancements include improved rendering for pupil highlights and lip gloss, adjustments to facial impressions, smile lines, and skin, as well as corrections to low-resolution sections of hair.
