Square Enix and Tencent Games subsidiary LightSpeed Studios have officially announced Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, a mobile adaptation of the acclaimed MMORPG. The project will be supervised by Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida, who described it as a "sister to Final Fantasy XIV."
The mobile version aims to recreate the original game’s story and combat mechanics in a format optimized for iOS and Android devices. Players can expect non-combat activities like fishing, Chocobo racing, and the popular Triple Triad card game. According to Yoshida, "Non-combat features, such as Disciples of the Land and Hand, will also be faithfully implemented."
The developers intend to deliver an "immersive visual experience" tailored for mobile platforms. This includes faithful character and equipment designs, over 600 weather patterns, and intricate time-of-day systems. Additionally, the game promises a welcoming social atmosphere without forced interactions or goals.
Final Fantasy XIV Mobile will first undergo multiple playtests in China, with a global launch planned shortly thereafter. No specific release date has been provided.
