Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire, the mobile strategy game by Machine Zone, is set to shut down on December 30, 2024, at 4 PM PT (December 31, 12 AM UTC). After this date, the game will no longer be playable or accessible. The announcement marks the end of a seven-year journey for the title, which launched in 2017 and has been a part of the Final Fantasy XV universe.
In-app purchases were disabled on November 18, 2024, and the game is no longer available for download in app stores. However, existing players can continue to play and use their Jewel balances until the closure. Machine Zone will also gift 5,000 Jewels to all players, with additional rewards distributed based on spending history and account age.
A final wave of new content will launch on November 21, 2024, with details provided via the in-game blog. Regular events will continue through the holiday season, including special events for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Machine Zone thanked its player community for their dedication and passion over the years, stating,
“This game means a lot - both to us, and to many others - and so we offer both apologies and farewells to our unrivaled, incredible community.”
The developers expressed their gratitude to Square Enix for their partnership and concluded by highlighting the connections forged within the game.
“In the vast universe of Final Fantasy XV, there is a corner of Eos that belongs only to you.”
