Final Fantasy XVI has encountered technical issues following Sony’s latest PS5 firmware update (version 24.06-10.00.00). Players have reported widespread crashes and visual glitches during gameplay and cutscenes. These artifacts range from flickering horizontal lines and black voids to rainbow-like graphical anomalies, significantly impacting playability.
The issue seems isolated to Final Fantasy XVI, as other PS5 titles have not been affected by the update. Some players have attempted troubleshooting methods like clearing the system cache and reinstalling the game, but with only partial success.
On social media platforms such as Reddit, frustrated users are sharing their experiences, with some players reporting that their PS5 consoles crash entirely while playing the game. Upon rebooting, many encounter repeated freezes or crashes within half an hour of restarting the game.
Sony and Square Enix have yet to address the issue publicly. Players are encouraged to report their issues to both PlayStation and Square Enix support to help expedite a fix.
