Final Fantasy XVI: Naoki Yoshida Teases Possible Expansion to Other Platforms

In an exclusive interview with NoisyPixel at PAX East 2024, producer Naoki Yoshida and DLC director Takeo Kujiraoka shed light on the upcoming The Rising Tide DLC and shared insights about the game's development. One intriguing revelation emerged during the interview, as Yoshida hinted at the game's potential expansion to "other platforms" following the release of the PC version.

Although Yoshida did not delve into specifics, it is widely speculated that the reference to "other platforms" alludes to a potential Xbox port. However, it's important to note that Yoshida's statement indicates that the plan is not yet fully solidified, urging fans to approach the news with tempered expectations.

During the interview, Yoshida stated:

"It’s not over in the sense that we have the PC version. Once the PC version is released, we’re thinking about hopefully moving to other platforms as well. However, that’s not really talking about the story; it’s more about moving it onto different platforms. So, there is a sense that while the project is still going, there is not that sense of being sad and having to leave them yet. But I’m pretty sure that once everything is released and we’ve moved on to the next project, that would be the time where it kind of hits us that, “Oh, it’s really it’s over?”

When discussing other platforms, the Xbox Series is usually the first one that comes to mind. However, it's possible that even a Switch 2 might be powerful enough and could become a potential platform for releasing another main Final Fantasy title. But for now, that's just a fantasy...
