PlatinumGames and the studio behind Kingdom Hearts IV recently shared an exciting revelation during the Final Fantasy XVI Pre-Launch Celebration live stream. Both studios were approached to contribute to the development of Final Fantasy XVI, a project that took them by surprise.
In a video message, Atsushi Inaba, the President and CEO of PlatinumGames, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work on Final Fantasy XVI. He mentioned that it was an entirely new experience for them and that the development staff, including himself, was thrilled at the chance to be a part of the iconic Final Fantasy franchise. Under the leadership of Takahisa Taura, who previously collaborated with Square Enix on Nier: Automata, PlatinumGames created high-quality content for the game.
Following Inaba's announcement, Tai Yasue, the co-director of Kingdom Hearts 4, shared his own video message, confirming that the Kingdom Hearts development team also played a role in the development of Final Fantasy XVI. Initially surprised by the idea, Yasue acknowledged the challenges of merging different creative methods and achieving a large-scale action-based game. However, upon learning more about the game's plan and story, the team enthusiastically embraced the collaboration. Despite the initial hesitation, they recognized the valuable experience and benefits that would arise from working on such a unique project.
The involvement of PlatinumGames and the Kingdom Hearts 4 studio adds a fascinating dimension to the development of Final Fantasy XVI. These collaborations have brought together diverse talents and creative approaches, contributing to the richness of the game's battles and overall experience. With this unexpected partnership, fans can look forward to an even more captivating and immersive journey in the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XVI.
