During the Final Fantasy XVI Pax East 2024 panel, Square Enix announced that the highly anticipated 'The Rising Tide' DLC for Final Fantasy XVI will be launching on April 18, 2024. Priced at $19.99 / 2,420 yen, the DLC offers players a new adventure featuring Clive and his companions on a mission to rescue the long lost Eikon of Water, Leviathan.
The DLC will take players to Mysidia, a hidden land under a blue sky, where they will uncover the tragic history of a forgotten people. Alongside this captivating narrative, players will be introduced to a new ally named Shula, who will aid Clive on his journey.
Among the highlights of the DLC is the addition of new Tonberries, exciting abilities for Leviathan, and the introduction of the Kairos Gate, a challenging endgame mode comprising 20 stages that escalate in difficulty. Players will earn points during battles to upgrade Clive and can compete for a spot on the global leaderboard.
In addition to 'The Rising Tide' DLC, Square Enix also announced a free update, Version 1.30, bringing several quality of life improvements to the base game. These include a new "Quick Complete" function, updated icons for character quests, and the ability to save up to five unique Feat and Ability sets.
Furthermore, the update will introduce a new controller type with customizable button layouts, enhancements to photo mode, and approximately 40 new orchestrion rolls.
Fans of the Final Fantasy series can also look forward to collaborations with Final Fantasy XIV Online and Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius.
