Japanese chip manufacturer Koikeya and Square Enix have joined forces to create an exciting collaboration that merges the world of Final Fantasy XIV with a line of potato chips.
Koikeya has unveiled further details regarding this anticipated crossover, shedding light on both the chip packaging and the beloved characters gracing it. Scheduled to make its debut on August 25, 2023, in Japan, the collaboration has gained momentum among eager consumers.
The packaging of the new Koikeya Final Fantasy XIV Eorzea Potato Chips will showcase familiar imagery from the game itself. One notable inclusion is the Island Sanctuary, a feature from the recently introduced Endwalker expansion. Alongside this, the packages will showcase characters relishing the chips, such as the Fat Chocobo, Dust Bunny, Loporrit, Namazu and Tataru Taru.
Described as "Crystal rock salt"-flavored, the potato chips pay homage to the crystals central to both the FFXIV universe and the broader Final Fantasy series. Within the FFXIV realm, popotos are characterized as starchy tuberous vegetables introduced to Eorzea by explorers hailing from the distant western continent.
