Leaker "Midori" Provides Update on Unannounced Final Fantasy IX Remake

In a series of tweets, renowned leaker Midori has provided an update on the highly anticipated Final Fantasy IX Remake, confirming that the game's development is now "very far along". However, the scope and release timeline for the remake remain uncertain.

According to Midori's sources, the Final Fantasy IX Remake project was originally outsourced to an external development team, but Square Enix was not satisfied with the quality and decided to bring the project back in-house for internal development.

"Development of this title is now very far along," Midori revealed. "But I do not have any firm information on the scope of this title or a firm release period right now. This title could release before the end of this fiscal year, but I am not certain right now."

Interestingly, Midori also noted that the Final Fantasy IX Remake is currently planned for a multi-platform release, contrary to earlier rumors of it being a PlayStation exclusive. This aligns with Square Enix's recent announcement of a more aggressive multi-platform strategy.

Adding to the intrigue, Midori also mentioned that there are plans to reveal information on other Square Enix titles at the upcoming Xbox Showcase.

In addition to the FFIX Remake, Midori also mentioned that a Final Fantasy Tactics Remake is in development alongside the FFIX project. However, the leaker advised fans to "keep expectations at low levels" for official information on both remakes in the immediate future.

The wait for the long-rumored Final Fantasy IX Remake appears to be nearing its end, but Square Enix has yet to provide any official confirmation or details. Fans will have to stay tuned for further updates from the publisher in the coming months.
