Wizards of the Coast has revealed the first detailed look at the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy crossover set, scheduled for release on June 13, 2025. The set will be fully draftable and Standard-legal, with four preconstructed 100-card Commander decks, each dedicated to a different Final Fantasy game.
The Commander decks focus on Final Fantasy VI, VII, X, and XIV, each built around a major protagonist from the respective title. The decks and their commanders are as follows:
Revival Trance (Final Fantasy VI) – Led by Terra, Herald of Hope, this Mardu deck revolves around graveyard synergies and reviving fallen heroes.
Limit Break (Final Fantasy VII) – Featuring Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER, this Naya deck emphasizes weapon synergies and boosting power beyond 7.
Counter Blitz (Final Fantasy X) – With Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian as its commander, this Bant deck draws inspiration from Blitzball, focusing on passing counters between creatures.
Scions & Spellcraft (Final Fantasy XIV) – Led by Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed, this Esper deck centers on control strategies and card advantage.
Each Commander deck will be available in two editions: a regular version priced at $69.99 and a Special Edition for $149.99, which features Magic’s Surge Foiling treatment on all 100 cards.
Beyond these decks, the set will feature characters, summons, monsters, and Chocobos from across Final Fantasy I-XVI, with iconic figures such as Cloud, Terra, Lightning, and Noctis expected to appear.
