Outdated Final Fantasy XV Remaster Claim Circulates Again Without Sources

Lately, several websites have been reporting on a supposed leak about a Final Fantasy XV Remaster. The rumor, which appears to be copied straight from 4chan, claims that Square Enix is working on a new version of the game with the following changes:

  • A revamped version of FFXV with heavy asset reuse

  • DLC and external media content integrated into the main campaign

  • New playable areas

  • No multiplayer or Comrades content

  • Combat reworked to resemble Final Fantasy VII Remake, with more playable party members

  • New cinematics, some of which would be 2D animated paintings instead of full 3D

While this might sound interesting at first, the reality is that the “leak” isn’t new at all. Most sites covering this story haven’t even checked the original source. The rumor comes from Ganker.com, a relatively unknown website, which posted it on June 5, 2023, citing no verifiable source. Now, nearly two years later, the claim is being recycled across various gaming sites and social media as if it’s fresh news.

One of the funniest examples? A website stating that this remaster is "supposed to release quite soon." Soon? In 2023 or 2025? Nothing from this leak has come true in two years, yet articles continue to pop up, and people keep sharing it online without checking basic details.

At this point, there is no credible information supporting this rumor, and its recent circulation appears to be the result of resurfaced speculation rather than any new developments.
