When asked if any remakes were being developed, Midori confirmed, "Yes. But there is not a FFX remake title in development." When pressed specifically about Final Fantasy IX, Midori stated, "This is correct information."
The anticipation for a Final Fantasy IX remake has been building for months, fueled by a GeForce NOW leak from nearly three years ago, which included the game on a list of potential future releases. In June 2023, another leaker suggested the remake would be a PlayStation exclusive, retaining traditional gameplay elements rather than adopting the action-oriented combat seen in the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
