In a recent announcement on both social media and the official Japanese website, Square Enix announced that the service for Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia will end on February 29, 2024. The decision, attributed to challenges in meeting future customer expectations, marks the conclusion of the mobile game's seven-year run since its launch on February 1, 2017.
Despite the forthcoming closure, fans can still look forward to multiple events in the last months leading up to the shutdown. Notably, as of November 29, 2023, sales of Gems, the in-game currency, will cease. Existing Gems will remain usable until the service concludes, but in-app purchases for Gems will no longer be available if a player lacks sufficient currency.
A significant aspect for players is the assurance from Square Enix that paid, unused in-game currency will be refunded post-service termination. Detailed refund procedures will be communicated through the official website and support center, with a recommendation for players to retain the app until refunds are processed.
