Square Enix Unveils Final Fantasy XIV's Pictomancer Job at Tokyo Fan Fest

Square Enix's FFXIV Tokyo Fan Fest recently unveiled exciting details about the upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Producer Naoki Yoshida introduced the Pictomancer, a new ranged magical DPS Job inspired by Relm from Final Fantasy VI. The Pictomancer wields a palette and brush wand, using them to paint magical effects and summon creatures like Moogles.

This expansion, set to launch in summer 2024, brings not only a new job but also an extended opening movie featuring Scion member Krile Baldesion showcasing Pictomancer powers. The main scenario update with Patch 6.55, scheduled for January 16, 2024, introduces a female Hrothgar as part of the main scenario, which will be available as an option for players in the next expansion.

Dawntrail dives into a story set in Tural, a western continent known as "The New World." Tural, inspired by the Americas, offers a unique setting with northern and southern sections connected by the impressive Tuliyollal bridge. The Warrior of Light and Scions will participate in a succession dispute involving the ruler's daughter, promising the "greatest summer vacation" for players.

Dawntrail not only expands the playable races with a female option for Hrothgar but also introduces Solution 9, a futuristic city serving as a player hub. Exciting previews of dungeons, including one set on a raft floating down a Turali river, add to the anticipation for this upcoming release.
