Square Enix has recently shed light on the meaning behind the cover art of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The artwork, crafted by Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, is said to embody the "three worlds" pivotal to the narrative's core. While the specifics of these worlds remain undisclosed, the developer elucidated on the symbolism of the characters featured.
In this vivid composition, Sephiroth takes the center stage, symbolizing his role as the catalyst for the events that follow. Flanking him are Cloud and Zack, positioned on opposite sides to emphasize how their fates are influenced by the antagonist. Notably, Cloud and Zack stand on opposite sides, poignantly representing how their destinies are 'torn apart' by Sephiroth. Cloud is portrayed beneath a lush green sky reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII Remake's cover, while Zack is set against a cerulean backdrop similar to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.
The heart of the artwork is filled with crimson hues, evoking images of fire and blood. As Square Enix explains, this metaphorically engulfs the world.
