Yasumi Matsuno Denies Rumors of Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster

Series creator Yasumi Matsuno has officially squashed any hopes of a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster. Responding on X/Twitter, Matsuno stated, "Currently, there are no plans for remastering." Fans eager for an updated version of the beloved game had speculated following leaks, but Matsuno's comments suggest otherwise.

Final Fantasy Tactics enthusiasts have been vocal about the game's limited availability on modern consoles, with the last remaster released in 2007 for the PlayStation Portable. The 2021 Nvidia leak fueled rumors of a remaster, but Matsuno's recent statement dampens expectations.

Despite leaving Square Enix in 2005, Matsuno remains connected to the Final Fantasy universe, contributing to projects like Final Fantasy XIV and the 2022 Tactics Ogre remaster through his company, Algebra Factory. Addressing a fan's request for a progression system, Matsuno directed enthusiasts to convey their desires to Square Enix.

Maybe... remake? ;-)
